The forest was once so vast, with so many trees where everyone could fit and live... but now, only one tree remains, and it is the sole refuge for all the animals. What is happening? Man is losing his mind!
Caruma, protector of the forest and the animals, lives in harmony with nature and fights to ensure his forest is not destroyed by human hands.
Inspired by the mission of giving a voice to forest protection, we created a performance where live music and puppetry merge into an ode to nature and all its beauty.
Is there still time to reverse the sad future to which the planet seems condemned?

“O Refúgio — a arte de proteger a floresta” (The Refuge — the art of protecting the forest) is the result of a partnership between Teatro e Marionetas de Mandrágora and Novaterra — Associação Cultural Arte e Ambiente, with the support of the Directorate-General for the Arts and the Municipality of Gondomar.
Born from this exceptional partnership, featuring extraordinary music, comes the release of this CD-book. It aims to leave a deeper mark on the audience and serve as another seed in the long-term work of protecting and preserving Planet Earth. To achieve this, all the elements that composed the performance—theatrical action, music, and pedagogy—were brought together in the studio. There, the songs gained a new life, and a story was recreated to bridge the song lyrics with important scientific information.
